The increasingly popular escape room will be given an educational twist. This workshop will engage participants while the collaborative elements help develop social skills. The breakout box approach allows for the facilitation of games where players use teamwork and critical thinking skills to solve a series of challenging puzzles in order to open a locked box. This approach transfers the ownership of learning from the instructor to the student. This approach requires critical thinking, creativity and communication. To escape, participants will collaborate, problem-solve, use logical thinking skills, and access prior knowledge. Doesn't that sound just what we want students to do?
